Globalization allows more intense interaction between countries and facilitates the exchange of ideas, thereby influencing conflict patterns that occur. The formation of international alliances and foreign intervention are other phenomena that influence conflict in the era of globalization. Countries more often cooperate to address common problems, but sometimes this intervention is not accepted, which adds complexity to the conflict. For example, the Syrian war shows how foreign intervention can make things worse rather than solve problems. The existence of information and communication technology also plays a role in spreading radical ideas that can trigger conflict. The Internet allows easy access to extreme doctrines, which are followed by recruits to global terrorist networks. This creates new challenges for the national security of countries around the world. Furthermore, environmental issues are an inseparable part of conflict dynamics. Globalization leads to overexploitation of natural resources and climate change which worsens the socio-economic situation. Countries with limited natural resources are often caught up in conflicts over control of what remains of that wealth, increasing the risk of instability. Uncertainty in globalization also creates tensions between countries. When the global economy slows down or a financial crisis occurs, competition for markets and resources becomes fiercer. Interested countries can become entangled in trade or military conflicts as a reaction to other countries’ policies that are considered detrimental. To overcome the dynamics of this conflict, a multilateral approach and strong diplomacy are needed. International forums such as the UN and the European Union play a role in mediating conflicts and offering peaceful solutions. However, success depends on the political will of the countries involved. Finally, education and intercultural understanding are important in mitigating potential conflicts. Communities that know each other and respect each other’s differences are less likely to be trapped in a cycle of violence. Community-based programs and intercultural dialogue can help build bridges connecting previously hostile groups.
