In poker, the best combination of cards wins the pot. But bluffing is also important and there are many ways to play your cards. The more you learn, the better you can play!

A tournament is an event at a store, convention, or some other public location where you can come and compete with other people who love the same game as you. The event is led by an organizer and there are often prizes for the winners!

Each player has a certain amount of money that they can use to bet during each betting interval. You say “call” if you want to match the last person’s bet, and raise if you wish to increase their bet. If someone else raises on your turn, you must either call their bet or fold your hand.

Some players build up a special fund during the course of a game called a kitty, which is used to pay for new decks of cards or food and drinks. When the game ends, any chips that were part of the kitty are divided equally among the players who are still in the game.

Successful Poker players are able to read the other players at their table, including their tells (eye movements, idiosyncrasies, hand gestures, betting patterns etc.). By identifying which players are more conservative and which are more aggressive, you can determine who will call your bets and who is likely to fold early.
